Maligaon, March 04: Shri Arun Kumar Chaudhary, General Manager of N. F. Railway Construction conducted an inspection of the ongoing Bairabi – Sairang New Line Project on 02ndMarch 2025. The General Manager was accompanied by senior railway officials from the headquarters during the visit.
During his inspection, the General Manager inspected the worksite of the ongoing new line project which includes inspection of the construction of Kawnpui&Mualkhangstation, Sairang station yard, construction of bridges and tunneling works in the project.
As part of his inspection, the General Manager on 03rd March, 2025 conducted a window trailing inspection from Sabroom to Agartala station. The General Manager visited theSabroom station, the southernmost station bordering Bangladesh.
He visited the Sabroom Land Port which plays a vital role in enhancing logistics, fostering bilateral trade and creating economic opportunities for both countries. The General Manager also met with Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura where the progress of various projects for the development of the railway in the state was discussed.
It may be mentioned that the 51.38 km-long Bairabi-Sairang new railway line project connecting Aizawl in Mizoram with the rest of the country is at an advanced completion stage.
This new line project is divided into four sections, i.e. Bairabi- Hortoki, Hortoki-Kawnpui, Kawnpui – Mualkhang and Mualkhang – Sairang. The Bairabi – Hortoki new line section is commissioned in July, 2024.Northeast Frontier Railway is making all efforts for fulfilling its commitment of earliest commissioning of the project.
