Shillong, Oct 06: The Season 6 of the IIM Shillong Golf Cup concluded today at the Shillong Golf Course where the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma was the Chief Guest in the presence of IT Minister, Mr A L Hek and Mrs Dikanchi D Shira.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mukul congratulated the IIM Shillong for holding the golf tournament which he said would provide an opportunity and also a platform for participants from outside the State to blend their business with play. He said it is a beginning to ultimately reach out to all the corporate houses to participate in business conclaves and also play golf in Shillong.
Dr Mukul appeal to all the golfers who have come to participate in the tournament to act like ambassadors of Meghalaya in promoting the beautiful Shillong Golf course and inspire others to come visit and play golf.
Dr Mukul felt that while converging business with the game of golf the business conclave can be organized at Cherrapunjee and the golf tournament in Shillong to enable the participant to explore other potentials of the State beside the game of golf.
He informed that the State Tourism Department is making efforts to have a golfing facility around Mawlynnong village which is the cleanest village in Asia. “IIM Shillong joining hands with the State Tourism Department is ideally to demonstrate the commitment that the Government has to gain maximum benefit out of the existence of this premier institute and multifaceted benefit will be accrued to the people of the State”, he added.
Dr Mukul also extend invitation to all the ardent golfers to participate in the Chief Minister’s golf tournament to be held on Nov 23 and 24, 2013.(SP News)
