Shillong, Oct 10: The State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) are still on the job to trace down the four missing person at the Kopili Hydro Electrical Power Plant boarding Meghalaya Assam, where the penstock pipe burst in the early morning on Monday where four people were found missing in the mishap.
The public relation officer of the North Eastern Electrical Power Corporation (NEEPCO) Smti L Kharmawphlang told the SP News Agency today that, effort are on by the SDRF and the team from NEEPCO to locate the four person who were missing accident site.
The four people who were missing, three are the workers of the NEEPCO and one who is working with the contractors.
The official press statement from the public relation officer said that the penstock carring water from the dam through the tunnel to the power house burst at around 4.30 AM on Monday, in the process, the isolating Valve, mean to stop the water flow also got damaged.
The gate at the intake is being lowered by the emergency team of NEEPCO from the engineering division from headquarter, simultaneously, the dam level is being lowered to mitigate the problems; the situation is under control there is no thread to the dam and it’s downstream.
NEEPCO has seek the help from the expert from NHPC and Bhakra have also been rushed to the incident site, the press statement said that it is an un-avoidable accident and the reason are being investigated.
