Three day Army WUSHU trial concluded, five players to represent India

Shillong, August o3: Army Wushu Trial were conducted with effect from 01 to 03 Aug 2016 at Army Wushu Node, Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong. The aim of trial was to select players for Army Wushu Node. A total of 157 players participated  six command HQs and Army Wushu Node

The trials was conducted in 11 weight categories in Sanshou i.e below 48 Kg, 52 Kg, 56 Kg, 60 Kg, 65 Kg, 70 Kg, 75 Kg, 80 Kg, 85 Kg, below 90 Kg and above 90 Kg. During the trials five participants other than Army Node were selected to form part of Army Wushu Node. The five selected players are Sepoy Vanlal Awmpuia (Central Command).Recruit Th Bicky Singh (Eastern Command).Sepoy Amitpal (Central Command).Havaldar Pawan (Central Command).Naib Subedar Charanjeet Singh (Eastern Command).All the selected individuals will be retained at Army Wushu Node, Assam Regimental Centre for further training and preparation.

In 2016 during South Asian Games Army Wushu Node, Assam Regimental Centre had bagged three Gold medals and presently five players to include Havaldar Uchit Sharma, Havaldar L Budhachandra Singh, Naib Subedar Rajani Deori, Havaldar M Gyandash Singh and Sepoy Chirag Sharma have been selected to represent India in 9th Asian Wushu Championship scheduled at Taipei, China with effect from 01 to 05 September 2016.
