Training on Verbal Autopsy for Sample Registration System held at NEIGRIHMS

Shillong, Oct 11: The Department of Community Medicine NEIGRIHMS in collaboration with the AIIMS Technical Support Unit (ATSU) New Delhi and the Directorate of Census Operations, Meghalaya, conducted a two-day training program on Verbal Autopsy for Sample Registration System (SRS) Supervisors from 9 – 10 October 2025.

The event which was organized by Prof. Star Pala – Principal Investigator of the project at NEIGRIHMS, welcomed the gathering during the inauguration ceremony. Ms. Salini V.K., Deputy Registrar General, Office of the Registrar General of India, Vital Statistics (SRS), Dr. Pooja Pandey, IAS, Director Census Operations Meghalaya and Prof. Nalin Mehta, Director NEIGRIHMS were present during the inauguration ceremony.

NEIGRIHMS Director Prof. Nalin Mehta added that this collaborative initiative underscores NEIGRIHMS’s commitment in enhancing public health data quality and supporting evidence-based policy-making in Meghalaya and beyond.
