Shillong, Nov 24: The team comprising of Lt Col Sandeep Sharma and Major RD Dabla of the Assam Rifles wins the tournament at newly developed 18 hole Laitkor Golf Course.
The tournament was played over two days and had a nail biting finish with a total of 120 golfers from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Assam Rifles, CRPF, ITBP, BSF and local golfers from Shillong and Tura participated in the event.
The tournament was contested in two handicap categories viz, 0-12 (Gold) and 13-18 (Silver) category handicaps.
Brig CMF Prabhu won the best gross category in the Silver division while, Esha Sharma was adjudged the best lady golfer and Lt Col Sandeep Sharma was adjudged the best Golfer.
Air Marshal RK Sharma, AVSM VM, on the longest drive in the category 50 years and above with a driving distance of 362 yards while Col N Selvakumar of BSF won the longest drive in the under 50 years category driving the ball 455 yards.
Other winners in the minor events were Dy Comdt RS Yadav of Assam Rifles and Lt Col S Mondal of MH Shillong.(SP News)
