Shillong, Jan 04: The CSWO is surprised to get information that bail is granted to a person who never appeared in court. This is with regards to the OC Mawryngkneng Ekwin Pala who fainted before cops could “arrest” him and he was admitted in ICU.
Why have the police not challenged this bail and why are they not reporting about the Prosecution weaknesses to the Government. Why is it that police take their time in arresting influential people while they raid houses of common man on mere suspicion.
The Police are going slow on cases against influential people and the more strange was the Prosecution who made no objections while the others who were alleged to be involved were locked up.
This is the practice in Meghalaya where big scammers are spared and when it comes to common man committing small crimes, the Police call in the media and brief them allowing them to take photographs of small time thieves, who have no one to back them up.
The Police make arrests of suspects without strong evidence but look through cases which prima facie are so evident and provided in their lap. It is so evident that many cases in court are lost due to help by police and only vindictive false cases are tried and charge sheeted .
The CSWO demands that such double standards by police and Government Pleaders, be stopped as people are losing faith, and these authorities seems to only heeds to the beck and call of Politicians and Babus.(SP News)
