GNLA cadres surrender before the Meghalaya Police with Arms

Shillong, May 04: Today the GNLA North Garo Hills Command surrender before the home minister Smti Roshan Warjri. All who surrender were 16 of them, they also surrender with huge arms.

The surrendered GNLA cadres have disclosed how Sohan D Shira has amassed huge money through extortion and kidnapping and threatening business community, government servants, contractors. Entire money was kept with Sohan D Shira.

They admitted that Operation Hillstorm -3 has made them give up arms and surrender. GNLA cadres disclosed that Garoland is a bogey cooked up by sohan D Shira and used innocent rural youth for furtherance of his wealth. ULFA cadres of Dristi Rajkhova has been associated with GNLA, they disclosed.

All the Cadres were critical of the style and functioning of Sohan D Shira and lamented that they lost their youthful years in the jungles serving Sohan’s own interests.They appealed to all other GNLA cadres not to trust Sohan D Shira and give up arms and surrender.

The  GNLA who surrender todayis under the command of  Pilliport D Shira@Rakban and  fifteen GNLA cadres, is surrendering with their arms and ammunition. The home department in the press satement said that “We commend the initiatives by the Church leaders, NGOs of Garo Hills who took the initiative and shown the correct path to these misguided youth”.

During the last three months, the MLP has initiated “People’s participation in preventive policing” program in all the villages of Garo Hills and solicited active participation of NGOs, Church leaders, village youth and other elders in preventive policing and contacting the militants to give up arms and surrender to the law of the land. We appreciate the cooperation and help received from all the sections of the society including the Church leaders, NGOs and other right thinking people of Garo Hills.

In the mean time, Operation Hillstorm-3 will continue in Garo Hills with SWAT and SF-10 Commandos and CAPF. Names of the GNLA  cadres:
