Over 13000 youth from NE response to the Army Recruitment Rally at Polo

Shillong July 26: The Army Recruitment Rally continues at Jawahar Lal Nehru Sports Complex, Shillong. An overwhelming response of about 13000 candidates was received over five days. This was unprecedented and almost double of what had been earlier achieved at Tura and Jowai. The successful candidates are undergoing various other mandatory tests and screening medical check-up, which will culminate on the 28th with a Combined Entrance Examination for the candidates of Meghalaya and Technical trades.

The rally has been truly an epitome of Army-civil administration co-ordination. The civil administration provided the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, drinking water, toilet facilities and police security cover outside the stadium.

The Army carried provided lunch to candidates and inner security inside the stadium.Two highlights of the event were the civil administration planning to conduct coaching classes for candidates of Meghalaya for the Common Entrance Examination and on its part, the Army weeding out candidates attempting to get enrolled with fraudulent domicile certificates.

The joint effort has not only helped in a successful event free, open transparent and fair conduct of the rally but also spreading a message and aspiration amongst the youth of the  state to join the  Army, which will further lead to  better national integration of the youth of the state with the country.

Brig RV Singh, DDG Recruiting NE States expressed his satisfaction at the support being provided by the state administration. He appreciated the effort put-in by the recruiting teams from Shillong and Narangi.  He also conveyed his appreciation for support provided by HQ 101 Area, The Assam Regimental Centre and 58 Gorkha Training Centre. (SP News)
