Shillong, March 17: On 16 Mar 2013 at about 1930 hrs, on specific input, BSF troops of BOP Umsiyem Tent Post, Ex- 108 Bn deployed in East Khashi Hills district of Meghalaya apprehended one Bangladeshi FICN racketeer namely Md Azim, aged 23 years, s/o Riazuddin, r/o vill-Barbakhoar, po- Banglabazar, ps-Goinghat, Distt-Sylhet (Bangladesh) near BP No 1272/3-s, while he was infiltrating into India from Bangladesh. During search, party recovered FICN face value Rs 40,000/- (Denomination 80 x 500), BD Taka 2060/- and 01 Mobile with 01 BD SIM from his possession.
The seized FICN was being smuggled from Bangladesh and was meant for circulation in the Indian market. BSF is keeping a strict vigil/surveillance and having effective intelligence network along the India-Bangladesh border to nab the FICN racketeers.
Besides above, BSF troops of Meghalaya Ftr, also seized 36 nos Cattle, 5550 btls of Phensedyl,17 kg Hemp, Forest Produce and other contraband items of the estimated cost of Rs. 44,39,000/- ( Rupees Forty four lacs thirty nine Thousand only) during the last week.
Apprehended persons and seized items have been handed over to concerned departments for further disposal and legal action as per law of land.(SP News)
