Shillong, April 27: The Vivek Rath (the Chariot of Swami Vivekananda) organized by Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, which started from Dhubri on 23 of this Month reached here following the route trodden by the Swami in 1901, yesterday evening.
Today Vivek Rath started from Batti Bazar, Laban, where the Swami stayed, to Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre (RKMVCC), Quinton Road, with colourful procession. Revered Swami Prabhanandaji Maharaj, Vice President, Ramakrishna Math & Mission, Belur Math receive the Rath at RKMVCC at the same spot where Vivekananda delivered his last public speech on the same day 112 years ago.
On this auspicious occasion a public meeting was held where Sri P.P. Srivastava, Member NEC, Prof Keya Sengupta, Director, IIM, Shillong, Sri R.G Lyngdoh, Chairman, MTDC and Sri B.K Dey Sawian, former DGP, Meghalaya Police also address the gathering and was follow by unique Cultural Programme.(SP News)
