The Department Botany, NEHU will organize two day seminar

Shillong, march 18: The Departmeny, Botany, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong,has been assigned the status of Centre for Advanced studies in Botany (level-It) by UGC under the Special assistance programme. We are, as part of the academic activities of Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany.

The department will organize a two day national symposium on “Himalayan Biodiversity: Prospects and challenges” on March 20-21,2014. The Symposium is being organized in collaboration with East Himalayan Society for Spermatophyte Taxonomy, North Bengal University, Siliguri and shall be attended by more than 150 participants from all across the country.

The focal theme of the symposium will be “prospect” and challcnges in conservation And sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity eminent scientist from the country   as well as the region shall be attended to discuss various issues for conservation and sustainable utilization of plant wealth in Northeast India.Prof, P. Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU, will be inaugurating the function in NEHUold guest House.(SP News)
