The turnout in Meghalaya in the MP Election is 66 percent

Shillong, April 09: The people of Meghalaya today cast their vote to elect their MPs to the Lok Sabha, from 1-Shillong LS and 2-Tura LS. The turnout for the two MP Parliamentary Constituency is 66 percent, said the Chief Electoral officer Mr P Niak.

The turnout of the voters in 2- Tura LS is 70 percent and the 1-Shillong LS is 62 percent and the over all turnout in the state as a whole is 66 percent.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that the polling passes off peacefully in both the parliamentary seat, Tura and Shillong so far there is no report of any incident.

There are ten candidate who were contesting from the two parliamentary seat, 2-Tura witness straight contest between the Congress Candidate Darly CH Momin and former Lok Sabha speaker Mr Purno.

The 1-Shillong LS has eight contestant, three independent and five candidate from different political parties.(SP News)
