DCC – SGH gets new members, promises better prospects for the coming years

Baghmara, 28th Oct: The District Congress Committee in South Garo Hills got a fillip recently with the team being joined by for members of the Garo Students Union, within their ranks. The DCC – SGH, has been vamping up its numbers and trying to ensure their presence was felt through their work. They have also promised to not only fill up their ranks, but ensure that the district was given its due and overall development happened within the region as promised.

The DCC announced its new members, the biggest name in the new signatories is the former President of the GSU, Prosper S Marak, who currently has been doing work on the preservation of the environment and was recently awarded Sanctuary Asia as the Young Naturalist. He is joined by other former members of the GSU, former Secretary, Franchy R Marak, Budhar R Marak, Gen Secretary -Juliush Sangma, former secretary – Raju Marak, and organizing secretary – Jutius M Sangma – Former GSU President. They now form the new Youth Congress team.

The President of DCC, SR Marak announced the interim body of the Youth Congress was formed on the 25th of October in the Baghmara Congress Bhawan. The DCC also announced the Executive Committee comprising the following people from the Youth Congress. The members as released as Franchy R Marak, Hendrik Marak, Sengbath Marak, Janura Marak, Silmen Marak, Natgrik Sangma, Moresh Sangma, Elberth Marak, Cherak Shira, Wilber Sangma, Chingseng Momin, Jonyberth Marak and Jotius M Sangma.

The DCC President SR Marak said, “We have been trying to ensure a robust enrolment process and have been encouraging the youth to be a part of the Congress team as the Government needs the support of the youth to ensure a robust democratic process. With the joining of young blood we expect the Congress team  to really make a dent and we will hopefully do well in the forthcoming MP and MDC elections. As we are planning for the future, we hope the next time, a Congress candidate will go to the Assembly from here”.(SP News)
