Shillong, June 17: Shree Cement continues to deepen its commitment to community development in Meghalaya through a series of integrated initiatives focused on education, clean energy access and healthcare.
Working in partnership with GHE Foundation along with local stakeholders, Shree Cement is helping improve quality of life across remote communities in the East Jaintia Hills region.
As part of its efforts to bridge the digital divide, Shree Cement has supported the establishment of solar-powered smart classrooms and digital learning infrastructure in schools across the region.
During FY26, seven schools were equipped with solar-powered computer laboratories, benefiting nearly 3,000 students and 117 teachers.
The facilities provide reliable access to digital learning tools, curriculum-aligned educational content and technology-enabled learning opportunities, even in areas with limited or unreliable grid connectivity.
The company has also supported solar village electrification projects that have brought reliable electricity access to 250 households across 12 villages.
Through solar microgrids, families now have access to lighting, mobile charging facilities and dependable power, improving household safety, productivity and overall quality of life.
Further advancing sustainable living, Shree Cement has facilitated the adoption of solar-powered clean cooking solutions across 151 households in 10 villages.
The initiative combines rooftop solar systems with electric pressure cookers, reducing dependence on firewood, improving indoor air quality and promoting environmentally sustainable cooking practices.
