Guwahati Airport strengthens emergency capabilities with advanced HRET

Guwahati, June 25: Reinforcing its commitment to the highest standards of safety and emergency preparedness, Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport, Guwahati, showcased its enhanced Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) capabilities through the deployment and demonstration of a state-of-the-art High Reach Extendable Turret (HRET) Crash Fire Tender and Water Rescue Boats.

The newly integrated HRET Crash Fire Tender, manufactured by Rosenbauer, marks a significant advancement in airport emergency response infrastructure.

Equipped with an extendable turret capable of reaching elevated sections of an aircraft, the vehicle enables firefighters to access critical areas swiftly during emergencies, significantly reducing response time and enhancing rescue effectiveness.

The HRET system is designed to support rapid intervention in complex aircraft incidents, ensuring greater protection for passengers, crew members and airport assets.

Complementing this capability, the induction of Water Rescue Boats has further strengthened the airport’s emergency preparedness framework by extending rescue operations to water bodies within and around the airport’s operational vicinity.

This addition enables the ARFF team to respond effectively to water-related emergencies, making Guwahati Airport one of the few airports in the region equipped with a comprehensive multi-domain emergency response system covering airside, landside and water rescue operations.

The ARFF team at Guwahati Airport operates under the motto “We Serve to Save”, focused on safeguarding life and property in line with DGCA regulations. The unit ensures rapid response to aircraft emergencies, fires, and incidents.

Equipped with advanced Rosenbauer Crash Fire Tenders, specialized equipment, and trained personnel, the team maintains high operational readiness. Regular drills, fire prevention drives, and training programs strengthen safety culture across the airport.

The integration of the HRET Crash Fire Tender and Water Rescue Boats is a key milestone for Guwahati Airport. These assets strengthen its multi-domain emergency response and reinforce its position as a safe, secure, and reliable gateway to Northeast India.
