Ampati, August 13: The District Administration of South West Garo Hills has issued a notice prohibiting cooking and littering at tourist spots, along roadways and in other public places across the district, with an aim to maintain cleanliness, hygiene and the scenic beauty of public spaces.
The notice, issued by the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Tourism Promotion Society, South West Garo Hills, on August 11, stated that cooking and littering at tourist spots, roadways and other public places are strictly prohibited.
The advisory has been issued in view of concerns over environmental pollution and improper disposal of food waste, plastic, bottles and other litter generated from roadside cooking and similar activities. Such practices not only affect the cleanliness and hygiene of public spaces but also diminish their aesthetic and scenic value.
The District Administration has urged local residents, tourists and visitors to refrain from cooking along roadsides, at tourist destinations and in other public places and to extend their cooperation in keeping public spaces clean and environmentally sustainable.
The Administration has also called upon all concerned, including local communities and visitors, to contribute towards making South West Garo Hills a clean, hygienic and litter-free district.
