Shillong, August 13: Internationally acclaimed Polish guitarist, composer and producer Marcin Patrzałek captivated audiences at the Lariti Performing Centre, Mawkasiang, on Wednesday evening with a mesmerising performance as part of the Marcin – Art of Guitar Tour 2026, presented by Jameson Ginger Ale.
The evening brought together global musical talent and Meghalaya’s vibrant grassroots music community, with artistes associated with the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Program (CM-MGMP) taking the stage ahead of Marcin.
The programme featured the Riffoff winner, Leo Boys, Larger Than 90, Chegim Durama and LB King, showcasing the breadth of Meghalaya’s homegrown musical talent.
The performances reflected the diversity of Meghalaya’s music landscape, with musicians from across the State coming together for an evening that celebrated both local creativity and international musical expression.
Chegim Durama, the CM-MGMP’s Achiever of the Month – Music Edition from the Garo Hills, performed alongside Leo Boys from the Khasi Hills and Larger Than 90 from the Jaintia Hills, with other MGMP-associated artistes also contributing to the evening.
Taking the stage at 8:30 pm, Marcin delivered a performance in his signature percussive style, creating a hypnotic blend of layered acoustic and electric instrumentation with mantra-style vocals. The grounding yet electrifying performance held the audience spellbound, demonstrating the distinctive musical language that has established Marcin as a globally recognised guitarist.
Addressing the audience and offering words of encouragement to Meghalaya’s musicians, Marcin said, “No matter where you are, anything is possible.” He added, “You can do it alone in a room, or in a shaded corner outside. Anything is possible.”
Marcin also thanked the people of Meghalaya for the warmth extended to him during his visit, sharing that Shillong holds a special place in his heart.
During his visit, Marcin interacted with local musicians and emerging artistes as part of the State’s efforts to create opportunities for artistic exchange under the CM-MGMP. The interaction offered local musicians an opportunity to engage with an international artiste whose distinctive approach combines fingerstyle and percussive guitar techniques with contemporary electronic and orchestral elements.
The collaboration reflects the vision of the CM-MGMP to create meaningful platforms for Meghalaya’s musicians, enabling them to perform, develop their craft, reach wider audiences and explore new professional opportunities. The programme has also been facilitating livelihood opportunities for local musicians through busking gigs at tourist destinations across the State, allowing artistes to earn while contributing to Meghalaya’s tourism and cultural experience.
The Art of Guitar Tour therefore became more than an international concert in Shillong. It created a shared stage where Meghalaya’s grassroots musicians and a globally acclaimed artiste could meet through music, offering local talent exposure, inspiration and a glimpse into wider possibilities for the State’s creative community.
The evening also reaffirmed Shillong’s enduring identity as a city where music is deeply woven into everyday life. With its thriving community of bands, independent artistes, choirs and performers, Meghalaya continues to strengthen its position as a destination where music, culture and tourism converge.
The Meghalaya leg of the Art of Guitar Tour was made possible under the visionary leadership of Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, the Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya, and the CM-MGMP, furthering the State’s efforts to connect its vibrant local music ecosystem with global artistic talent.
