Shillong, Feb 12: The recent cases of violence in Delhi against the students from North EasternStates have generated a sense of insecurity amongst them and serious concern back home. A large number of youngsters from Meghalayn in general and Shiilong in particular are in Delhi for their studies or employment. It is therefore necessary to allay their concerns immediately.
“I am sure the Union Home Ministry is addressing this issue in all seriousness.The recent decision taken by the Home Ministry to handover the case relating to thedeath of Arunachal Student Nido Tanian to CBI is welcome”.
The Governor of Meghalaya in his letter to the union home minister write “I am writing to you to express my concern on behalf of the people of my State and would urge upon both the Union Government as well as the Delhj Police to take adequate steps to create aconducive atmosphere for people from North East to pursue their studies andoccupations at Delhi and else therein the country in peace and harmony.(SP News)
