Shillong, August 25: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU), representing the collective interests of students, job aspirants, and unemployed youth in Jaintia Hills, has officially approached the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District.
As detailed in our official memorandum, available in the file named demand DSC 2026.pdf, the JSU is urgently demanding the resolution of severe discrepancies in the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment process.
The Organsation urge the authorities to postpone the proposed Grade-IV written examinations and hold the recent recruitment notifications in abeyance until the results of the previous 2021 recruitment cycle are declared and all irregularities are rectified.
Candidates who qualified in the previous Grade-IV (2021) written examination underwent personal interviews in June 2026. The final results remain undeclared despite the considerable passage of time. It is deeply discouraging and unfair to initiate a fresh recruitment drive while hundreds of candidates are left in uncertainty.
There is growing public discontent regarding serious anomalies in the DSC’s evaluation and shortlisting processes. During the Lower Division Assistant (LDA) recruitment, candidates securing unreasonably low marks, such as 3 marks, were called for personal interviews. Similar grave concerns have been raised regarding the handling of Grade-IV marks, answer scripts, and interview shortlisting criteria.
Sub-Judice Legal Matters: Serious allegations concerning the fairness of DSC examinations are currently sub-judice before the Hon’ble High Court of Meghalaya. The State has been directed to file an official affidavit regarding these matters. Proceeding with new examinations risks compounding existing legal complications.
Administrative Logic: While the JSU is not opposed to the recruitment of candidates, basic procedural fairness dictates that past recruitment cycles must be brought to a clean and transparent conclusion before new ones for identical posts are initiated.
In light of these facts, the JSU respectfully submits the following demands for immediate consideration, The forthcoming DSC Grade-IV written examination must be postponed immediately.
The current notification for the new recruitment drive must be cancelled or kept in abeyance until a fresh, transparent notification can be issued following the completion of the previous cycle.
The complete and verified final results of the previous Grade-IV DSC examination (2021) must be declared at the earliest. The District Selection Committee must publish detailed mark breakdowns, cut-off lists, and evaluation criteria for both written tests and personal interviews to restore candidates’ trust.
All ongoing and future recruitment actions must strictly align with judicial propriety and any directions issued by the Hon’ble High Court of Meghalaya. The JSU anticipates swift action and sympathetic consideration from the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the best interest of fairness and the welfare of our youth.
