Shillong, August 24: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr. Conrad K Sangma make clear message from the government to the citizens, whatever happened on 19/August/ 2026 this was very unfortunate and therefore people who try to create fear in the system and the society and Government will not leave those people.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is going to take very strong action against those people who have tried to create that fear, the citizens should not be worried, yes there was certain inconvenience that was caused.
The Government do agree to that because we saw the reaction from the neighbouring state that had to be again controlled and discuss and negotiated but now the state have got all of that behind us.
The Chief Minister said, we should move in the positive manner we should definitely learn and not just our Government including organisations, associations and different stakeholders and show that whatever steps be taken in the future.
“Why we have the right to have a peaceful protest, it does not mean that you can take the law in your hand and specially does not mean you can do anything that you want and you know specially beating up and harming innocent people so that’s something a strong message must go from all of us and it’s very important that I’ve been sharing this with everybody that the society also at one point of time must come out regarding this”. Said the Chief Minister Mr. Conrad.
“As I’ve said one of the most open governments whenever it comes to any issue, we are very open to discuss with the issue when it comes to any kind of talks and discussion that are there, we are always open to talks and discussion. But as I said there is a line that we have to draw and one cannot cross the line and that is the message that I have for everybody that please don’t try to do that and if anybody does then we will have to take action as well”. Said Mr. Conrad.
