Shillong, August 24: Mr. Clivestar Ch. Marak President, Khasi Hills A’chik Joint Action Committee express my strongest condemnation of the grievous assault on a boy of approximately 14 years, son of Shri Namsrang R. Marak, which occurred in Shillong on the night of 22 August 2026.
According to the victim’s father, the family resides at the Member Hostel, Government Quarters, Shillong. At around 9:30 p.m. on that evening the boy received a phone call from an unknown person; shortly thereafter he was set upon by unidentified assailants and sustained serious injuries, this unprovoked and brutal attack on a defenseless minor shocks our conscience.
Such barbaric violence is an affront to the safety of our children and to the basic values that bind our society. It causes deep anguish to the family and to the wider community.
On behalf of the Khasi Hills A’chik Joint Action Committee, He demand that the police and other relevant authorities act immediately and thoroughly to apprehend the culprits, ensure a speedy and transparent investigation, and provide full justice to the victim and his family.
They also request that medical treatment and protection be extended to the boy and that the family be kept informed of progress in the case. He urge all citizens to stand united against violence directed at children and to assist law enforcement by sharing any information that may help the investigation.
