Shillong, Sept 30: The District Administration, West Khasi Hills, is conducting the recruitment of Staff Nurses on a contractual basis for MCH, Nongstoin, in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
The written examination was held at Nongstoin College on 21st September 2026. Based on the results, 60 candidates were shortlisted for the personal interview, as notified by the District Medical and Health Officer on 24th September 2026.
The interview is scheduled for 29th and 30th September 2026 in the Conference Room of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Nongstoin, before a duly constituted interview board.
On 29th September 2026, while the interview was in progress, the Member of the District Council (MDC), Nongstoin, entered the interview hall without prior intimation or permission and raised his voice at the members of the interview board in the presence of the candidates.
The proceedings were interrupted, causing distress to the candidates and the board. The MDC was then escorted to the chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, where he made certain verbal allegations about the recruitment process, some of which have also been reported in sections of the media.
The District Administration condemns this unauthorised entry and disruption of an official selection process. An interview board discharging official duties must be able to function without interference.
No individual, whatever position he or she holds, is permitted to enter a recruitment venue without authorisation or obstruct officials in the discharge of their duties. Such conduct directly affects candidates who have prepared in good faith.
The District Administration is examining the incident and will take appropriate action in accordance with law. Any concern about the recruitment should be submitted in writing, with specific details and supporting evidence, to the competent authority.
Any person with information about a demand for money or any other malpractice in this recruitment may submit it to the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills. Every such complaint will be examined, and action will be taken against anyone found involved, in accordance with law.
Candidates and the public are informed that selection is based strictly on merit, as assessed through the written examination and the personal interview. No payment of any kind is required at any stage.
Candidates are cautioned not to fall prey to touts or anyone claiming the ability to influence the selection, and to report any such approach immediately to the District Administration. The recruitment will be completed in a fair, transparent and time bound manner.
The District Administration appeals to the general public and all stakeholders to extend their cooperation and support in ensuring the smooth and timely completion of the recruitment process, so that the MCH Hospital, Nongstoin may be made operational at the earliest and the much-needed healthcare services can be made available to the people of the region.
