Shillong, Oct 27: The Government of Meghalaya has announced that all State Government offices, Revenue and Magisterial Courts and Educational Institutions in East Khasi Hills District shall remain closed on the 2nd of November, 2026 as Local Holiday on account of Nongkrem Dance. However, the Local Holiday shall not apply to Central Government Offices.
Further, the Government of Meghalaya has under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 declared 2nd of November, 2026 as Holiday for all Banks and Financial Institutions in East Khasi Hills District on account of Nongkrem Dance.
This was informed by the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, General Administration Department.
