New Delhi, March 25: The Election Commission has decided to hold a Bye-election to the Council of States from Meghalaya, to fill up the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of the sitting member Shri Thomas Sangma, on 4th February, 2013, whose term of office was up to 12th April, 2014.
Accordingly, the aforesaid bye-election will be held in accordance with the following schedule.
Mr Sangma resign as member of the Rajya Sabha to contest the election to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from the National people Party founded by Purno A Sangma but was defeated.(SP News)
