Shillong, May 19: To reduce the shortage of Doctors in the state government is contemplating to rise the retirement age of doctors from 58 to 62, this is the idea that rolling around at the corridor of powers.
Sources told SP News Agency, that the government of Meghalaya is aware that there is shortage of doctor in the state which is very difficult for the government to provide doctors in all the PHC and CHC.
The government tried her best to lure doctors from outside the state to appoint them on contract base but this exercise could not attract doctors from out side to come and serve in Meghalaya.
In order to breach the gap of short of doctors to served in the state the government hand in mind to increased the retirement age of doctors from 58 to 62, the government of Meghalaya is watching the move that the government of Mizoram tried to implement it.
The government of Meghalaya has constructed 28 Community Health Centre, 108 Public Health centre and more than 611 sub- Centre. Many of them could not function due to shortage of doctor.
In the entire state the only CHC which got all the sanction post for doctor is the Ampati CHC, the rest are having one or two doctor or with out doctor.(SP News)
