CMJ University come up with an open letter to the Chief Minister:SP Sharma

Shillong, May 23: The Chandra Mohan Jha Foundation that run the CMJ University in the state has come up with an open letter to the Chief Minister stating that the University is going by the norms of the UGC and that the irrgularities found out by the University Visitor is unfounded.

Clarifying the stand of the university, foundation legal adviser SP Sharma told media at a press conference on Thursday said that the recent premeditated action of the Meghalaya Governor RS Mooshahry who is the university visitor seems prejudiced and not for the interest of the university which resulted the completed obstruction in functioning of the University.

Sharma said that as per section 13 of the University Act, the Visitor  (Governor) act as a mentor, guide and friend of a university who through his well timed advice, opinion and recommendation help the functioning of the university.

Coming to the arrest warrant issued by the CID after the Governor filed an FIR against the University, Sharma said that the government cannot come up with false statement and said that the chancellor is absconding as as he is in his hometown in Bihar to attend to his ailing father who is in the ICU adding he will come as soon as his father gets better.

Sharma also inform that the foundation has written an open letter to the chief minister appealing him to step in and stop the witch-hunt by the police against the educationists who are being treated as common criminals are stopped.

It may be mentioned here that the much talked irregularities of the CMJ University run by the CMJ Foundation which was brought to light after Meghalaya governor RS Mooshahary- who is the University Visitor- secretariat filed an FIR against the CMJ University for issuing fake degrees certificates to its students leading the CID to close down the institute and arrest warrant against CM Jha the Chancellor of this Univeristy who still remain at large was issued even as some of its officials like registrar and deputy registrar have been arrested.
