Shillong, August 10: What began as a small food-processing venture in Riangdo, West Khasi Hills, has now taken its first step into Shillong’s urban market.
Angie Shirhabs, a homegrown food processing and FMCG enterprise incubated
under PRIME Meghalaya, today inaugurated its new retal outlet in Nongthymmai,
marking a significant milestone in its journey from rural production to a growing
urban customer base.
The inauguration was attended by officials from PRIME Meghalaya and
representatives of Angie Shirhabs, in the presence of Joel Dkhar, Assistant Professor,
Shillong Commerce College.
Founded in 2022 by Angielorita lawphniaw as a sole proprietorship, Angie Shirhabs
began as a small-scale rural food-processing venture in Riangdo, Mawshynrut Block,
West Khasi Hills.
Since then, the enterprise has developed into a structured, market-oriented business, building a diverse portfolio around Meghalaya’s local produce and food traditions.
Its product range includes natural juices and ready-to-serve beverages made from
Strawberry, Sohiong and Mulberry; Mulberry and Carambola squash; seasonal fruit-
based jams; pickles made from Bamboo Shoot, Mango, King Chilli and Local Chilli;
ginger powder; gooseberry candy; and its flagship premium specialty chicken pickle.
The expansion reflects the impact of PRIME Meghalaya’s incubation and mentorship
ecosystem in helping local entrepreneurs build stronger and more market-ready
businesses.
Speaking at the inauguration, Angie lawphniaw, entrepreneur and owner of Angie Shirhabs Enterprise, said, “This day marks an important milestone, as my enterprise has expanded. With the support of PRIME and the Governmentof Meghalaya, I am able to see this day come to fruition When I got incubated to PRIME, lgot all the
required support and guidance under the PRIME team. I won the CM’se-
Champion ship.”
Joel Dkhar, Assistant Professor, Shillong Commerce College, lauded PRIME
Meghalaya for its continuous support in building the entrepreneurial journey of Angie lawphniaw. He further noted that under the visionary leadership of Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Chief Minister, the standards of local entrepreneurs in the state
have been raised.
The enterprise’s revenue has grown from Rs 0.50 lakh in FY 2022-23 to Rs 3.5lakh
in FY 2025-26. Its customer base now extends across Riangdo, Nongstoin, Mairang
and Shillong, with bulk orders also secured from MSRLS. The enterprise currently
employs three people directly.
Angie was selected under CMECC 5.0 (CM’s e-Championship, Cohort 5) and recognised among the Top 75 entrepreneurs which she received the grant of Rs 1 lakh. She received incubation support providing her with mentorship, guidance on business operations and pricing, packaging and branding, marketing strategy, and registration and regulatory compliance.
