Shillong, July 22: The sporting momentum continued on Day 2 of the State-Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026. Organized by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, today’s fixtures across the Under-15 Boys, Under-17 Boys, and Under-17 Girls categories delivered a spectacle of attacking football, highlighted by several commanding victories and stunning individual performances at the SSA Stadium, MFA Turf, and Mawlai Madan Heh.
With the support of the State Government and the continued vision of Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, the tournament serves as a crucial platform for Meghalaya’s emerging football talents aiming for national recognition.
Under-15 Boys Highlights (SSA Stadium, Polo, Step by Step Sec. School (East Jaintia Hills) secured a strong 5-1 victory over St. Claret Hr. Sec. School (West Garo Hills). The goal fest was led by Mewasolaki Rymbai’s quick brace (28′, 31′), supported by Overwell Suchiang (24′), Kyrshanlang Dkhar (46′), and an own goal by St. Claret’s Selister R. Marak (14′). Jerryphingko Marak (47′) scored the lone consolation goal for St. Claret.
North Liberty Hr. Sec. School (West Jaintia Hills) marched to a 4-0 win against Anderson Hr. Sec. School (West Khasi Hills). Meshan-I Syntem was the standout performer, netting a brace (19′, 23′), while Ozil Langshiang (2′) and Kyrshanlang Chyrmang (20′) also found the back of the net.
Umpohliew Jingtip Hr. Sec. School (East Khasi Hills) dominated Baghmara Hr. Sec. School (South Garo Hills) with a 6-0 scoreline. Bomtius Dkhar set the pace with two goals (13′, 43′), accompanied by strikes from Roniki Kharshandi (14′), Komasson Lyngdoh (22′), Nangteimanbha Syiemlieh (25′), and Hamebanjop Langstieh (38′).
Little Star Hr. Sec. School (Eastern West Khasi Hills) and Mangsang Hr. Sec. School (East Garo Hills) played out a hard-fought 2-2 draw. Little Star scored through Davidson Lyngdoh Marshilong (36′) and Revealstar SLJ Kharbhih (43′), while Mangsang found their goals early via Tengsuang T. Sangma (7′) and Rakrim N. Marak (17′).
Under-17 Boys Highlights MFA Turf, Polo, Bajengdoba Hr. Sec. School (North Garo Hills) edged past Amwi Hr. Sec. School (West Jaintia Hills) in a thrilling 4-3 encounter. Chukam R. Marak’s brace (22′, 52′) proved decisive, alongside goals from Mithu D Sangma (6′) and Gipsang M. Marak (21′). Amwi fought hard with Clifford Buam also scoring twice (16′, 51′) and Austinly Buam adding another (45′).
Wapung Sec. School (East Jaintia Hills) claimed a decisive 4-0 victory against Okkapara Sec. School (South West Garo Hills). Jeffarson Phawa was the star of the match, completing a brilliant hat-trick (42′, 52′, 70′), with Lyonel (60′) adding the fourth.
Myngken Christian Hr. Sec. School (Ri-Bhoi) delivered a powerful performance to beat Little Star Hr. Sec. School (Eastern West Khasi Hills) 5-1. Chanjib Chetry was unstoppable, scoring four goals (26′, 39′, 47′, 51′), with Prosperwell Ryntong (44′) also scoring. Kishan Wahlang (21′) provided the only goal for Little Star.
Dapboklang Giri Memorial Sec. School (West Khasi Hills) recorded a comprehensive 6-0 win over Balang Mawlangwir Hr. Sec. School (South West Khasi Hills). Iohborlang Lyngkhoi was the standout player, netting four times (7′, 28′, 35′, 43′), while Jonalius Khardewsaw (13′) and Shemphang Iawphniaw (65′) rounded off the scoring.
Under-17 Girls Highlights Mawlai Stadium, Madan Heh, North Liberty Hr. Sec. School (West Jaintia Hills) showcased immense firepower, defeating St. Claret Hr. Sec. School (South West Garo Hills) 12-0. Hat-tricks from Elizabeth Thianglai (15′, 30′, 58′) and Baiarbha Nongrum (35′, 41′, 59′) highlighted the rout. Receive Ksoo (11′, 38′) and Peacefully Pohplet (25′, 50′) scored braces, while Saphika Pyrtuh (24′) and Virginia Pyrtuh (26′) added to the tally.
Lotus Sec. School (East Jaintia Hills) and Rangthong Christian Hr. Sec. School (South West Khasi Hills) battled to a 0-0 stalemate, displaying strong defensive setups.
Lurmangkara Sec. School (West Khasi Hills) secured a solid 4-0 win against Montford Sec. School (West Garo Hills). Natasha Kharjahrin led the attack with a hat-trick (6′, 29′, 53′), supported by a goal from Evanisha Kharjahrin (18′).
Tyrsad Hr. Sec. School (East Khasi Hills) outclassed Rangku Memorial Girls Hr. Sec. School (South Garo Hills) with a 9-0 victory. Ha-I-sha Myrthong secured a hat-trick (2′, 11′, 38′), while Labianghun Rani (7′, 26′) and Wanrihun Kharnaior (47′, 52′) scored two goals each. Deiphibakor Lyting (39′) and Vanessa Phiba Mawthoh (43′) completed the comprehensive win.
The group stages will conclude tomorrow, determining which teams advance to the highly anticipated semi-finals on July 24.
