Shillong, August 31: Nangkiew Irat secured a second consecutive victory with a 1-0 result against Mylliem in the Shillong Premier League 2026 at the SSA Stadium here today. Ronaldkydon Lyngdoh Nonglait scored the only goal of the game in the 39th minute.
Nangkiew Irat now have 7 points and are in the Top 4, while Mylliem remain at the bottom of the 10-team league after four defeats. Nangkiew Irat had plenty of chances to score even more goals, especially in the first half, but scuffed their chances.
Wallamsuk Nongkhlaw had two in quick succession around half an hour into the game. He blazed the first one over after Sangti Janai Shianglong had fed him a nice cross from the right and then Wallamsuk’s tame volley was collected easily by Mylliem goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh. Sangti would then go just over the crossbar with a header a few minutes later.
At the other end, Mylliem’s Shaibor Nongrum whacked a shot well wide. He seemed to have been a little surprised as the ball reached him only after referee Wilfred Pohtam Hayong jumped out of its way.
Nangkiew Irat bagged the lead soon after when Edyvenson Dhar moved up and into the box from the left flank. He fed the ball to Ronald right in front of goal, who had the easiest of tap-ins.
There was less to write home about from the second half, though Jefferson Pakyntein smashed the crossbar in the 68th minute for Nangkiew Irat and Mylliem missed a chance 10 minutes later when Alem Khongwir failed to connect to a Remark Kharmalki cross.
Tomorrow will witness an eagerly awaited contest between Meghalaya Police and Shillong Lajong at 3:40pm. Both sides have 7 points from three games each with two wins and a draw. MLP are definitely the dark horses this season and will look to give a good challenge to the five-time champs Lajong.
