Shillong, April 30: Pine Mount Higher Secondary School marked the successful conclusion of its much-anticipated Sports Week with great and vibrant participation from students, teachers, and invited schools. The closing ceremony was graced by the Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui as the Chief Guest.
The programme was held in the presence of the Principal of Pine Mount Higher Secondary School, along with principals and representatives from prominent institutions including Step by Step School, St Edmund’s School, Shillong Public School, and other dignitaries, parents, and well-wishers.
The Sports Week witnessed enthusiastic participation not only from Pine Mount students but also from invited schools such as Seven Set Higher Secondary School, Shillong Public School, Step by Step School, and St. Edmund’s School.
Students competed in a variety of athletic events including 100m and 200m races, relay races, and other track and field activities for both boys and girls. Winners were awarded medals and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performances.
Addressing the gathering, Lahkmen Rymbui emphasized the importance of happiness and a positive mindset in a student’s life. He noted that while academic excellence is important, a joyful and encouraging school environment plays a crucial role in shaping confident and successful individuals.
The Minister also spoke about the challenges of the modern world and encouraged students to remain strong, fresh in mind, and positive in their approach. He advised students not to succumb to peer pressure, but to recognize their uniqueness and follow their own journey towards success.
“Positivity is not only about success; it is about how we approach life and challenges. A happy and positive mindset will always guide you towards a successful future,” he stated.
He further called upon all the stakeholders, teachers, parents, and the community to work together in nurturing young minds and building a stronger and brighter society.
Highlight of the programme was the impressive march past by the students, which was reviewed by the Minister, who took the salute and appreciated the discipline and coordination displayed by the participants.
The event was also marked by vibrant performances by the students, adding colour and celebration to the occasion and showcasing their diverse talents.
The programme concluded on a high note, celebrating not only sporting excellence but also unity, discipline, and the holistic development of students.
