Opposition demand President Rule in the floor of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly

Shillong, June 06: The  opisition in the Meghalaya Lsgislative Assembly today demand that president rule should be impose in the state in order to calm down the law and order situation that taken place in the Garo Hills region which the opposition alleged that the government has fail in adjudicating their  duties to protect the lives of the citizens.

The opposition has brought out the adjournment motion on law and order situation that prevail in the state particularly in Garo Hills region which ravage with militant activities in which the Speaker admit the adjournment motion and is was taken today it slef.

The NPP MLA James K Sangma, while moving the adjournment said that the state government has failed in protecting the lives of the common people in Garo Hills, and the situation as such is not safe for the people.

The mushrooming of militants groups is on the rise since 2010, the NPP Legislators said that these splinter groups emerge since the government is not in the position to curtail them. Because the state government cannot control the law and order situation to stop to these entire president rule is the only solutions.

While supporting the adjournment motion move by the NPP legislator , the leader of the opposition in the floor of the House Dr Donkupar Roy and former chief minister said the “ The development that the government has achieve in the last four years in the growth of militants groups in the state”.

The law and order situation in the Garo Hills region is uncontrollable, if any one from among the 60 MLAs become Chief Minister will not be able to control the militants activities in the Garo Hills Region, in order to put a stop on these militants activities in Garo hills a force from outside is required and that is president rule. He even gone to the extend when he said if the chief minister consider peace and tranquility is important let him resign as the chief minister.

Others MLA from the opposition while taking part in the debate in supported the adjournment motion  are, Paul Lyngdoh, Dr Jemino Mawthoh, from the UDP, Clifford R Marak of the GNC. They also endorse that president rule should be imposed in the state.  Nahim D Shira NPP also participate in the debate.(SP News)
