Residents of Shillong experiencing first shower of the year

Shillong, Feb 17: With Western Disturbance has moved towards East India, leaving a trough line in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Meghalaya today experience a cold weather. Not only this, the windy climate made the situation even worst,  also on Sunday evening a frequent fluctuation and disruption of electricity was witnessed.

The cyclonic circulation will persist over the North Eastern states for another 24 hours and move away thereafter.

According to Indian Meteorological Department website rain or thundershower would occur at many places over North Eastern states during next 24 hours and decrease significantly thereafter.

On Sunday, most people prefer to stay back home.  It was a cold day and very less vehicles were seen plying on the road.

The weather remained cold and damp with cold blistering winds throughout the day and showers in the evening. Monday was no better. Two days of rain was enough to make the resident of the pine city lazy.

Available data in the regional metrological department website indicate that light to moderate rain occurred at most places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya & Nagaland and light rain occurred at a few places over Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during last 24 hrs. Night temperature changed a little over the region during last 24 hrs.

According to Regional Metrological department based in Guwahati, The minimum temperature recorded on Monday morning was 7.7 degree Celsius.  With the mercury level dipping down the sale of charcoal has shot up as most people bought charcoal in large quantity expecting similar rainfall in the days to come.(SP News)
