Shillong, August 04: The announcement of the Telegana state by the Congress has let a fallout to different part of India, like the Nepali Community who demanded Gorkha Land to be curb out from the state of West Bengal, Bodo, Karbi Anglong in Assam and in Meghalaya the Garo community demanded for the Garo land.
The president of the Garo National Council (GNC) Cliford Marak who is also an MLA from Chokpot told SP News Agency that the area of the Garo State will include all the District of Garo hills withen the state of Meghalaya and portion of two District form Assam, Kamrup and Goalpara will form part of the Garo State.
Mr Marak said that if the central government can give Telengana state to the Telegu speaking people , the Garo also have every right to get their state Garo State base on the language that they area speaking.
The Movement who will be spearhead by the Garo Hills State Movement (GHSM) under the leadership of Augustine Marak former minister and the GNC as the political party will support it at the political level like what happen in the Telegana.
Marak also said that “ I have tried to contact bah Hopingstone Lyngdoh but he could not reach to him because he is not well” He said that “ I have brought into the floor of the house twice the resolution for creation of the Garo State again this time I will take the issued in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly”.
The president of the Khasi Student Union Daniel Khyriem told SP News Agency that “ its is the aspiration of our fellow brother to get their Garo state and I have nothing to say if they could get their own state will be good and we will remain among us.”(SP News)
