Shillong, June 27: The two prominent organization from jaintia Hills the Jaiñtia Youth Federation (JYF) and the Jaiñtia Student Union (JSU)), sent a representation to the Chief Secretary of Meghalaya mr WMS Parait asking him not to transfer the present Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District without any justifying reason thereof
In the letter the two organization mention that “we understand that even political pressure is also on the rise to remove this incumbent from his office besides also another section of religious group undoubtedly has lobby to play role in this matter”.
They also stated that the present Deputy Commissioner had not even yet complete one year in his term in office beside as per rule transfer order can be made only after three years of service. The JSU and the JYF strongly oppose these pressures and such move was just because on the self interest of certain group of people.
In the letter the organization said that Mr.P.S.Dkhar the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District in his short term of service had shown exempla nary role while rendered his authority to administer the people of the District in various field of his services. He is really a man of principle never compromise when it comes to the well being of the people of the district. Such person is really needed to be in office as Jaintia Hills as of now is really torn apart by various anti social elements.
Hence on this matter, we therefore strongly oppose any intention from the government to forcibly order the removal of such officer who have the responsibility for the life and death of the public and who faithfully rendered his duties for the benefits and the good welfare of the public interest. If such move could be entertained, we have to ask where are the futures of the district that will lead to if such responsible officer could not render their duties in a responsible and sincere manner besides, if they are to be just mere puppet in the hand and control of few politicians alleged the two organsation.
The apprehension from the two organization is that, perhaps the move to remove Mr. P.S Dkhar was just for reason of order he had issued to cancel the limestone mining in parts of Amlarem Sub division which drastically destroyed the environment that affected especially the sources of drinking water in such villages in and around.
The organization requested the Chief Secretary to kindly take heed to this matter of concern not to allow any such moves to remove the above incumbent from his office and the same time we demand that his service should continue as it is on the ground that we have observed that such personality is the need of the hour to run the general administration for the good welfare of the people of the district.(SP News)
