The NGO call for the public meeting on the ILP issued on the 30th of this month

Shillong, Nov 24:  The NGO who were demanding for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit in the state of Meghalaya after three month of agitation has decided to kept in abeyance all the agitational programmed but call for the public meeting on the 30th of this month the place is yet to be announced.

In the press statement sent by the general secretary of the Khasi Student Union (KSU) Auguster Jyrwa said that all the NGO,s will come out to hold public meeting and make the people understand that only ILP can prevent people from outside who intending to come and settle in Meghalaya.

The KSU leaders said that the NGO are still maintaining the same stand that only ILP can protect the tribal people of Meghalaya from being swam away by the majority. The tribal of Meghalaya fear that if they were not protected there is a danger that they will become minority in their own land said Auguster.

Referring to the incident that took place at the state central library where student tear the  Meghalaya Regulation of Landlords and Verification of Tenants Bill 2013 know as the  Tenancy Bill,  Auguster  said that what they have done is not wrong because the bill is a toothless bill with no power to bite.The message is very clear that the government should drop down the bill.(SP News)
