Shillong, Nove 25: Deputy Secretary to the Governor of Meghalaya informed that a delegation of 10 MLAs representing the Meghalaya People’s Front MPF led by the Leader of Opposition, Dr Donkupar Roy, called on the Governor today at the Raj Bhavan. They submitted a Memorandum signed by Dr Donkupar Roy, Chairman MPF and Shri James P K Sangma, Secretary MPF.
The Memorandum express concern at the growth of militancy in Garo Hills and the breakdown of talks between the Government and the agitating groups on the ILP issue. During the meeting the following MLAs spoke in support of the Memorandum: Dr. Donkupar Roy, Shri Clifford Marak, Shri Saleng Sangma, Shri Jemirio Mawthoh, Shri James Sangma and Shri Paul Lyngdoh.
The Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and urged the MLAs not to support the bandhs and blockades which are against the law of the land. The Governor also conveyed that remaining passive and not condemning such restraints could be misunderstood as tacit
support and hence they should clearly indicate that they do not support restraints.(SP News)
