Guwahati, Feb 22: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Assam Regional Office, organized the State Credit Seminar 2026‑27 on 21st February 2026 at Hotel Vivanta, Guwahati, under the theme “e-KCC driven Agriculture Credit Growth”, wherein the State Focus Paper (SFP) 2026‑27 was launched by Chief Guest Ms. Aruna Rajoria, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary, Agriculture Department and Agriculture Production Commissioner, Govt. of Assam.
The State Focus Paper 2026‑27 assesses the Credit Potential of Assam at ₹92,207.72 crore for FY 2026‑27 under the Priority Sector, including ₹32,603.91 crore for Agriculture and Allied Activities, ₹52,450.29 crore for MSME Sector, and ₹7,153.51 crore for Other Priority Sectors.
In his welcome address, Shri Loken Das, Chief General Manager, NABARD Assam RO, highlighted NABARD’s developmental initiatives in rural infrastructure building, increasing agricultural productivity, cooperative strengthening, and boosting MSME entrepreneurship. A detailed presentation on SFP 2026‑27 was made by Shri Qamar Javed, GM, NABARD, who also touched upon the scope of sectoral credit potential.
In her keynote address, Ms. Rajoria lauded NABARD’s pivotal role in growth of agriculture and rural transformation in Assam, including its continuous support for infrastructure building, farm innovation, financial inclusion, and the new e‑KCC initiative to advance digital agricultural credit.
She also laid emphasis on the need for addressing information asymmetry on farm sector credit availability and focused lending to encourage commercial agriculture in the State apart from ensuring proper branding and market linkage support for FPOs.
Besides, she also released a brochure on NABARD’s FPO support in Assam and presented the sanction letter to Biozatra Science and Technology Pvt. Ltd. for a Technology driven Fishery development Project sanctioned by NABARD Assam Regional Office.
Senior officials including Shri Dilip Kumar Bora, IAS, Secretary (Finance, T & D), Govt. of Assam; Shri T P Bhusal, ACS, Secretary (Agriculture), Govt. of Assam; Smt. Sushmita Phukan, RD, RBI and Shri PVSLN Murthy, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NEDFi, also participated in the event as guests and addressed the participants.
The event witnessed participation of officials from the Government of Assam, RBI, commercial banks, cooperative institutions, development agencies, NGOs, FPOs, SHGs, and other stakeholders. On the sidelines of the event an array of products was displayed by the tribal beneficiaries of farm sector developmental initiatives of NABARD. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Shri Evan T. Munsong, DGM, NABARD.
