Ampati, May 28: A Human Development Leadership Programme (HDLP) was conducted at Banangjpara village under Zikzak C&RD Block with the objective of strengthening community development and improving access to essential government services at the grassroots level.
The programme was initiated by the Deputy Commissioner, South West Garo Hiil, Kumari Anendya Raajsshre, IAS,and organised by the Block Development Officer (BDO), Zikzak Block, Smt. Torali K. Marak, MCS.
During the programme, villagers raised several important issues including irregular water and electricity supply, lack of proper school infrastructure, and absence of an Anganwadi Centre building. Officials from various departments assured that the concerns would be taken up for necessarily follow up action.
A field survey carried out during the programme identified two school dropout cases and two immunisation refusal cases. The immunisation related issues were resolved on the spot through counselling and awareness in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner.
As part of the initiative, a Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening programme was also organised to promote preventive healthcare and early detection of lifestyle-related diseases. Villagers underwent health screening and received counselling on healthy practices and disease prevention.
The programme began with a Gram Sabha attended by officials from departments including C&RD, Health and Medical, ICDS, MSRLS, and Education. Awareness was created on various government schemes and welfare programmes related to health, education, nutrition, livelihood, and social development.
Officials also visited the Anganwadi Centre and AWC creche to review children’s health records, antenatal care registers, nutrition services, and the overall functioning of the centre.
Banangjpara village has a population of 241 people comprising 40 households. Officials present during the programme included the BMC Zikzak, CDPO, Medical and Health Officers from the district, Cluster Coordinator, and MECDM District Coordinator.
