Ampati, August 06: In a significant initiative aimed at promoting inclusive development and strengthening grassroots employment services, Hon’ble MLA of 54-Mahendraganj (ST) Assembly Constituency, Shri Sanjay A. Sangma, extended financial assistance to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and distributed computers under RGSA to Area Employment Councils (AECs) under Zikzak C&RD Block during a programme held at the PWD Inspection Bungalow, Chapahati, on Thursday.
Organised under the theme “Empowering Abilities. Enabling Opportunities.”, the programme focused on supporting vulnerable sections of society while enhancing the capacity of institutions involved in employment facilitation.
Addressing the gathering, Smt. T.K. Marak, MCS, Block Development Officer, Zikzak, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of empowering persons with disabilities and strengthening grassroots institutions that promote employment opportunities.
Shri R.Z.D. Shira, MCS, Project Director (ADC), stressed the need for inclusive welfare initiatives and coordinated efforts to improve livelihood opportunities for vulnerable sections of society. He urged the AECs to make responsible and effective use of the computers provided to enhance service delivery.
During the programme, computers were formally handed over to the Area Employment Councils under Zikzak C&RD Block to strengthen their functioning and improve the delivery of employment-related services.
As part of the welfare initiative, Shri Sanjay A. Sangma personally provided financial assistance of ₹10,000 each to 45 Persons with Disabilities from the constituency. The assistance was extended from his personal funds in recognition of the financial hardships and employment challenges faced by many PwDs.
In his address, the MLA reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities and emphasised the importance of creating equal opportunities through targeted support and inclusive development. He also expressed confidence that the computers distributed to the AECs would enhance employment facilitation services and benefit job seekers across the block.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Smt. Z.R. Marak, District Social Welfare Officer, Ampati, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, officials and participants for their contributions towards the successful conduct of the programme.
