Shillong, Sept 21: The State Disaster Response Disaster Force (SDRF) today recovered the body of a drowning victim froma small water body located at a private property at Mawdiangdiang.
Personnel of the 1″ SDRF Battalion, Shillong were activated by the District Disaster
Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hils at approximately 1424 hrs regarding the
drowning incident.
Without any delay, the SDRF team departed from Headquarters at CD&HG Complex,
Mawdiangdiang and reached the incident site at approximately 1435 hrs.
Upon arrival, it was learnt that the incident had occurred at around 1200 hrs. The SDRF
team, led by Inspector S. Dkhar immediately commenced the search and rescue operation.
Displaying great courage and dedication the SDRF personnel successfully retrieved the body of a young man.
The body of the deceased man was retrieved at approximately 1500 hrs in the presence of
police personnel from Mawdiangdiang OP, and the Headman, Mawdiangdiang. The
recovered body was subsequently handed over to the Police for necessary legal formalities.
