Tura, August 22: The SPANDAN District-Level Senior Men’s Football Tournament concluded today at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura, with the final match bringing the SPANDAN Series in Meghalaya to a close. The tournament was organized by 22 Bn BSF Meghalaya under the SPANDAN Programme of the Sports Authority of India.
The much-awaited final was played between Simsanggre United FC, Williamnagar and Kalkame FC, Tura. In an exciting and closely contested encounter, Kalkame FC, Tura defeated Simsanggre United FC, Williamnagar by 7-6 penalty to lift the championship trophy.
The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Berning A. Sangma, Hon’ble Minister, Minister of Civil Defence & Home Guard as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest congratulated all the participating teams for their excellent performance and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
He encouraged the young players to pursue football with dedication, discipline and hard work, and to make the most of every opportunity to develop their talent. He also appreciated the efforts of BSF in promoting sports and youth engagement through the SPANDAN Programme.
The winners, runners-up and outstanding players were felicitated during the ceremony. The event also provided an opportunity to recognize the enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed by all the participating teams throughout the tournament.
With the conclusion of the final match, the SPANDAN Series in Meghalaya came to a successful end, leaving behind a memorable sporting experience for the players and the football-loving community of the state.
