The CBN Madhya Pradesh seizes 4.240 kg opium; one person arrested

New Delhi, Oct 02: In continuation of its sustained anti-drug operations, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), MP UNIT based on specific intelligence, intercepted a Hero Glamour motorcycle on the Kanjarda–Manasa road on 30.09.2026 and recovered 4.240 kg opium. One person was arrested in connection with the seizure and the motorcycle used for transportation of the contraband was also seized.

On receipt of specific intelligence that a person riding a Hero Glamour motorcycle bearing Neemuch registration is carrying approximately 4–5 kg opium from Kanjarda towards Manasa, a team of officers of the P&I Cell, CBN Mandsaur, was deployed on the suspected route.

The team maintained strict surveillance on the Kanjarda-Manasa route. Upon identifying the suspected motorcycle, the officers intercepted it and conducted a thorough search. The search resulted in the recovery of two packets containing a total of 4.240 kg opium.

After completion of all requisite legal formalities, the recovered opium along with the Hero Glamour motorcycle was seized under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and one person was arrested.

Further investigation is under progress to ascertain the source and intended destination of the contraband and to identify other persons, if any, connected with the illegal trafficking network.
