CBN Rajasthan seizes 1.080 kg ganja concealed in parcel from Thailand

New Delhi, Oct 02: In continuation of its sustained efforts to curb the illicit trafficking and smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Jaipur, has seized 1.080 kg hydroponic weed (ganja) concealed in an international parcel received from Thailand at the Foreign Post Office (FPO), Jaipur.

Based on specific intelligence regarding the suspected concealment of narcotic substances in an international parcel received from Thailand, officers of the CBN, Jaipur, constituted a team and proceeded to the Foreign Post Office, Jaipur, for examination and search of the suspected parcel.

During the detailed examination of the parcel, the officers noticed that several packets of cakes and other articles had been placed inside the carton. On further inspection, hydroponic weed (ganja) was found cleverly concealed in 29 pouches of cakes, which had been mixed with other packets of cakes and articles in an attempt to camouflage the contraband.

The recovered contraband was thereafter seized under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, following due legal procedure. The seizure reflects the continued vigilance and coordinated efforts of the Central Bureau of Narcotics in detecting attempts to traffic narcotic substances through international postal consignments and preventing such contraband from reaching its intended destination.

The CBN is maintaining close watch over international consignments and taking appropriate action on the basis of specific intelligence inputs to prevent the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs. Further investigation into the case is under process.
