He also expressed his confident that the NCP will win all the 12 seats in Garo Hills and they will perform better than the NPP by putting up a stiff competition against the Sangma brothers.
When asked whether the NCP will be able to perform without the support of former NCP leaders, Conrad and James Sangma, Shullai said that the party will not collapse just one or two members resigned and joined another new party.
Talking tough, Shullai claimed that the fight in Garo Hills is mainly between the NCP and the NPP even as leaving the congress out of the frame. “Conrad Sangma is facing a stiff competition in Selsella constituency from NCP candidate Lalthantluanga D. Shira”, Shullai claimed.
However, Shullai refused to comment on whether the NCP would prefer supporting the NPP and other light minded parties for the formation of the government stating that “The same could be sorted out after the elections.”
On the other hand, when asked whether the NCP will support the Congress for the formation of the new government, NCP President said, “We will not form the government with the Congress if they failed to get majority seats in the assembly.”
Moreover, he said that serving the people do not always mean that a legislator has to be in the government, but he can also serve the people even by sitting in the opposition bench.(SP News)
