Leader of opposition Conrad Sangma defeated

Shillong, Feb 28: Prominent and veterant politicians like leader of opposition Conrad Sangma, former Deputy Chief Minister Bindo Lanong and even Charles Pyngrope Meghalaya assembly speaker lost in their respective seats.
Conrad Sangma who contested from Selsella constituency lost to Congress candidate Clement Marak.
Sangma’s lost has came as a blow to winning and losing candidates especially in Khasi Hills district. Surprised over the news Paul Lyngdoh said the state has lost young and dynamic leader who has  a vision to take the state forward. 
Unexpectedly even Charles Pyngrope who contested from the post delimitation constituency Nongthymmai lost to his UDP rival Jemino Mawthoh. Mawthoh who had contest the 2008 election as an NCP candidate had lost to Bindo M Lanong. However after the delimitation, Lanong contested from Shillong East constituency against Congress candidate Ampareen Lyngdoh and lost to her.
In South Shillong constituency, Congress candidate and former Education minister Manas Chaudhuri lost to his NCP rival and Meghalaya deputy speaker Sanbor Shullai.
