Fake currency note got by the BSF from the Bangladeshi smuggler

Shillong April 06: In the intervening night of  5th /6th Apr 2013 , on specific input, BSF troops of BOP Gasuapara ex-132 Bn deployed in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya apprehended three Bangladeshi smugglers namely Panpush Pattang (aged 21 years), s/o Sonart Nakrat, Jusia Maraking (aged 22 years), s/o Upal Deo and James Chirang, (aged 18 years), s/o Binar Chandra Orang all r/o vill- Rangrapara,  po/ps- Haluagahat, Distt- Mymensingh, Bangladesh near BP No-1124/5-S, while they were trying to infiltrate into India from Bangladesh. During search, party recovered Indian currency Rs. 27,000/- and two mobiles along with one Indian and one Bangladeshi SIM from their possession. Later on checking the currency it was found that  Rs 2,000/- was FICN  (Denomination 2x 1000). During preliminary interrogation it was revealed that the Panpush Pattang, one of the apprehendee is the liquor smuggler and was infiltrating into India to smuggle the liquor.

In another incident, on 6th Apr 2013, on specific input, BSF troops of BOP Baldamgiri ex-23 Bn deployed in South West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya apprehended one Indian FICN racketeer namely Ibrahim, aged 65 years, s/o Late Hussain Ali, r/o vill- Naodung, po/ps- Mohanpur, Distt- Udalguri, Assam near BP No-1071/1-S, while he was trying to infiltrate into India from Bangladesh. During search, party recovered FICN face value Rs 5,500/- (Denomination 3x 1000 & 5 x 500) from his possession.

The seized FICN was being smuggled from Bangladesh and was meant for circulation in the Indian market. BSF is keeping a strict vigil/surveillance and having effective intelligence network along the India-Bangladesh border to nab the FICN racketeers.

Apprehended persons and seized items have been handed over to concerned departments for further disposal and legal action as per law of land.(SP News)
