People in the rural areas look to the gram sevaks as sources of Information: Kropha

 

Shillong, June 03: The State lnstitute of Rural Development in association with the MeghalayCS_addressing_the_participantsa lnstitute ofGovernance (MIG) and the Initiatives of Change Panchgani (IofC) is organizing an Integrated Training Course of Ethical Governance and Public Service for 675 Gram Sevaks and Gram Sevikas in 16 batches from the 3rd June to 26th July 2013.

The aim of the training is to acquaint them with the current status and initiatives in Rural Development and to infuse work ethics and value to enable them to bring about a meaningful change in the society and the rural community in particular.

The programme was formally inaugurated today  by the Chief Secretary ShriWMS Pariat in the presence of Shri K. S. Kropha Principal Secretary Home, Political andChairman of MIG and Shri K. N. Kumar Principal Secretary C&RD. The Chief Secretary stress on the importance of the Gram Sevaks in the Government machinery and delivery of public services and that it is important for them to discharge their duties in an ethical manner that is acceptable to the people.

Shri. K. S. Kropha spoke on how people in the rural areas look up to the Gram Sevaks as a source of information and guidance. Shri. K. N. Kumar in his keynote address stated the purpose and importance of a training of this kind and said that since the SlRD is now

equipped with good infrastructure and facilities it has become possible to organize bigprogrammes such as this. Shri Suresh Khatri provided an introduction to lofC and it mission.

The Director of SlRD Shri E. Kharmalki gave the welcome speech. The 2 month long programme is being coordinated by Shri B. S. Rumnong, Shri. Aiban Swer and Shri Francis Sangma.(SP News)
