Shillong, June 8: Concerning the plight of the CMJ University students, State Chief Secretary WMS Pariat informed that the government is making all attempts to find an appropriate solution for the students.
The government is concerned of the welfare of the students and will make all efforts to ensure that their careers are not jeopardized, he added.
Besides, he also said that the attempts to get students of the CMJ University enrolled in other universities of the state is still in progress.
The offer to accommodate the disarrayed students came after the intervention of the KSU who demanded the state government to absorb the students into other universities considering their career prospects.
In a positive note, Pariat said “The attempts of the government will come to a positive conclusion,” adding that the directorate of higher and technical education has already issued a notice to all the concerned students to submit their documents like receipts and others to the office of the directorate.
When asked whether the state government has communicated to the University Grants Commission (UGC) on this matter, the CS said “Things are being done step by step and as far as UGC is concerned, it will follow subsequently.”
Meanwhile, reacting to a query on status of the university at present, Pariat said “The law will take its own course as this matter is still under investigation.”(SP News)
