Winsaphisha is the only student from the state to get selected for the INSPIRE Award 2011

Shillong, June 19:  It is a proud moment for the Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School, Cherrapunjee whereby a student from this school Winsaphisha Diengdoh who is currently studying in class IX became the only student from the state to get selected for the INSPIRE Award 2011.

She was 12 years old when she topped the list in 2011 and got selected for the INSPIRE award 2011.

Being selected for the prestigious award Diengdoh was able to also meet the President on March earlier this year.

It may be mentioned here that Diengdoh secured first among the state entries in the project competition on innovation in Science pursuit research 2011, exhibited on ‘Application of Mathematics in our lives.’

The ‘Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research’ (INSPIRE) is an innovative programme sponsored and managed by the Department of Science & Technology for attraction of talent to Science. The basic objective of INSPIRE is to communicate to the youth of the country the excitements of creative pursuit of science, attract talent to the study of science at an early age and thus build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the Science & Technology system and R&D base.(SP News)
